Homebuilder: Demand for raised homes rise amid Houston floods

When Frankel Building Group began designing its first community in The Woodlands three years ago, the Houston luxury homebuilder required that all of its homes be elevated.

Woodlands Reserve sits off of Gosling Road and Woodlands Parkway, west of Spring Creek. Although the gated, 55-home community is not in the 100-year floodplain, the Frankels decided to build homes that were on pier and beam foundations, raising the first floor about three and a half feet from the ground.
